Double Row Tapered Roller Bearing

Tapered roller bearings primarily bear combined radial and axial loads, with radial load being dominant. The bearing’s load-carrying capacity depends on the raceway angle of the outer ring; a larger angle results in a greater load-carrying capacity. These bearings are separable bearings, classified as single-row, double-row, and four-row tapered roller bearings based on the number of rows of rolling elements. The clearance of single-row tapered roller bearings needs to be adjusted by the user during installation; the clearance of double-row and four-row tapered roller bearings is specified by the user at the factory and does not require adjustment.

Tapered roller bearings have tapered inner and outer raceways, with tapered rollers arranged between them. The projection lines of all tapered surfaces converge at the same point on the bearing axis. This design makes tapered roller bearings particularly suitable for bearing combined (radial and axial) loads. The axial load capacity of the bearing is largely determined by the contact angle α; a larger α angle results in a higher axial load capacity. The angle is represented by a calculation factor e; a larger e value indicates a larger contact angle, and thus a greater suitability for bearing axial loads.

Tapered roller bearings are typically separable, meaning the tapered inner ring assembly (comprised of rollers and cage) can be installed separately from the tapered outer ring.

Tapered roller bearings are widely used in the automotive, rolling mill, mining, metallurgy, and plastics machinery industries.
