Backed bearings are specialized bearings designed based on double-row or triple-row cylindrical roller bearings, with variations including single-row needle roller bearings and double-row tapered roller bearings. They feature a significantly thickened outer ring and can be mounted in groups on fixed support shafts as support rollers. Primarily used in multi-roll cold rolling mills, they are also suitable for straightening machines, bending machines, and other equipment.
Backed bearings are based on double-row or triple-row cylindrical roller bearings, but offer the following derivative types:
1. Single-row needle roller bearing structure
2. Double-row tapered roller bearing structure. This design utilizes special reinforcement of the outer ring to meet high load-bearing requirements.
Applications: As a dedicated product for multi-roll cold rolling mills, their application scope extends to: straightening roller systems in sheet metal straightening machines; pressure roller groups in metalworking bending machines. A typical application example is a 20-roll mill, which uses a backed bearing system on eight support shafts.
Functional Features: Integral thick-walled outer ring design. It achieves its function by: mounting on a fixed support shaft as a support roll or straightening roll, replacing the traditional single support roll structure; and providing optimized load distribution for multiple rows of rolling elements. As of 2022, this design has been proven to effectively improve the stability of the cold rolling process.
